In the meanwhile I’ve been pretty busy with Knoepfli, my new hardware toy. All the necessary parts and the first pcbs have arried. So far, everything seems to work. Today I managed to light the first RGB-LED. Well, see for yourself. I think I will have the first module up and running quite soon.

I like this one. New and fresh. A smooth 2 hour minimal techno (or is it electro?) show on audioasyl.net. Listen to the show in the player below, download the show or go to my page on audioasyl.net.

This was unexpected. And yet, I definitely am on the wildcard list of the demotape clinic of this year’s m4music festival in Zurich. Yeah! I almost gave up submitting my songs after numerous unsuccessful attempts of getting my (mandatory) mx3.ch profile page to work, but it seems it was worth it. Now I am looking forward to the 28th of March. But before that I am going to do some listening of my own next weekend at the fourth Plux anniversary at Fundbureau in Hamburg.
Yesterday I finally finished the PCB design for my new interface project: Knoepfli. It’s a pretty versatile controller, consisting of a basic module of 2 by 8 rectangular buttons. Each button is backlighted with an RGB LED, through a white acrylic button. The buttons can be replaced if needed by an endless encoder or a force sensor (which each take up the space of two buttons). In this way, any combination of up to 16 buttons and/or 8 encoders and/or 8 force sensors can be achieved, all in the same design and all backlit in full color. All this on the same PCB, which on the other side also houses the micro controller (which runs MIOS), the voltage converter and the USB connection to the host computer. For a first impression here is a detail of the design in kicad (well, mainly for aesthetic reasons). Photos will follow when the parts and the pcb arrive.
