This Friday comes another edition of my audioasyl special guest series. I am very much looking forward to play with Nader, one of Zurichs first and finest. DJing since 1994 and playing live since 1998, Nader was one of the main figures of the well remembered Dachkantine. Today, he is mastering the skill of turning Traktor Pro into a real live act by mixing and matching four decks with unprecedented skill, also incorporating live looping and recording. Nader is also producing, releasing on labels such as Neustadtmusik, BuyYouSellMe, Empro Music and Muenchen. He has played in every club of Switzerland at least once, as well as in numerous locations all over Europe. His party labels in Zurich are a guarantee for a night out full of fun, funk and fancyness. Tomorrow it’s time again for another show on audioasyl.net, this time live from the birthday party of our beloved radio station itself. Yes, audioasyl.net has turned nine years some weeks ago! Listen to me and my special guest manuell maschinell from 21-23 and then join us later for the audioasyl clubnight at Friedas Büxe. As always, you will not regret it.
With me tomorrow is my friend Manuell. For almost two decades now, Manuell has been honing his musical skills with record players, mixers and less obvious instruments for music reproduction. While doing classic vinyl or tractor-based mixes as “manuell”, he also plays a more live-oriented set using controllers, drum computers and the other odd piece of equipment under the name “manuell maschinell”. In this configuration he explores what is possible with the means of modern technology, gaining distance from regular DJing and indulging in the possibilities of realtime sampling, looping, tinkering, layering and filtering, thereby creating his own plot lines or even his own music. Currently, Manuell is moderating the radio show Active Beats. Together with his guest artists he pumps out electronic music live into the ether over Winterthur and Berne as well as into the internet. Just recently he joined the the team around the legendary unicorn parties in Zurichs club Cabaret.

Next Thursday there will be something special: Sarna from Nice Try Records is starting with a new event, serving you finest electronic music via the internet and also directly into your ear. There will be a broadcast to listen to and invitations for the more inclined. But I will let him speak for himself:
“Ear & I attempts to bring together as much different artforms as possible and stream it to your place at the time it’s happening. The concept is based on the performance of electronic music, flanked by a performance by a writer and / or a painter, actor, dancer, pantomimic, sculptor or a video-performance taking place at the same time. Both performances will be transmitted by several cameras and live directed by a video artist on the spot to make this become a true live streaming experience”
Masks in the design of my controller will be provided to hide the faces of that part of the audience that does not want to be streamed to the web. Therefore I will be playing, dancing and taking a drink at the bar, all at the same time. Great.
